About Slanty Sweater
Slanty is a boxy, raglan baby sweater with a top-down seamless construction. It’s knit in stockinette stitch with a slanted garter stitch button-band. The slanted angle is formed by decreasing and increasing stitches at the beginning and end of the same row.
The button band and its smooth, round i-cord edge are built into the pattern and form as you knit! There are no stitches to pick up!
Other than sewing on buttons, very little finishing is required at the end of the sweater.
This pattern is easy to follow and a great stash-busting design (you can add stockinette color changes and different colored garter stripes in whatever colors and patterns you desire).
This pattern is a great place for advanced beginners to jump into the joy of raglan sweater construction, as the instructions are easy to follow and well explained.

- Basic knitting skills including increasing, decreasing and 1X1 ribbing.
- Basic knowledge of top-down raglan construction.
- Picking up stitches.
- Different cast on methods, including the twisted purl cast-on and the ever-stretchy German twisted cast-on [these are easy to learn via online resources].
- Changing yarn colors for stripes.
MATERIALS NEEDED:
- Size US 8 / 5mm 29” circular needles
- Size US 8 / 5mm 9” circular needles, or DPN
- Upholstery needle for sewing in ends
- Scrap yarn for holding stitches
- Four stitch markers
- Sewing needle and thread
- 4 (5, 5, 5) ¾ inch buttons
- 190-380 yards worsted weight yarn
